Improv for Coaches: Build Presence, Agility, and Connection
September 19, 2025
9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Eligible for 1.0 CCEUs
Coaching, like improv, asks us to stay present, listen deeply, and respond in the moment. In this experiential workshop, you’ll explore the surprising overlap between coaching and improvisation—and how improv can help you expand your range as a coach.
Through playful, low-pressure activities, you’ll build skills that support ICF Core Competencies such as Active Listening, Evokes Awareness, and Cultivates Trust and Safety. You’ll also have space to reflect on your own coaching style and discover fresh ways to support client growth.
Expect a mix of reflection, connection, and laughter—plus the chance to grow your coaching network while trying something refreshingly different.
No improv experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to play.
This in person program will be held at the East Bay Community Space at 507 55th Street and Telegraph Avenue. There is on street parking and parking lots near by this space.
About the Speaker

Mallory Penney, ACC, CPCC, is a leadership coach and facilitator who helps leaders, teams, and fellow coaches build the skills they need to navigate complexity with confidence and clarity. Mallory uses improvisation to support clients in two key areas: self-discovery and building essential leadership skills. Through improv-based coaching, Mallory helps leaders clarify what they truly want and identify what holds them back, while also developing their ability to think on their feet, navigate uncertainty, and communicate with confidence. She also uses improvisation to help coaches strengthen ICF core competencies, including active listening, evoking awareness, and cultivating trust. Her improv-based practices encourage coaches to experiment with curiosity and creativity, helping them meet the unexpected with openness while discovering what best serves their clients. With over a decade in learning and development, she has supported thousands of professionals worldwide through coaching and workshops rooted in behavioral science and experiential learning.
