ICF SFBAC Volunteer Spotlight

Posted on Mar. 27, 2026  /  Chapter News  /  0

For those of you that I haven’t yet met, I am Karen Davey-Winter, and I’m the new Director for Volunteers. Every quarter we will be posting an article in the ICF SF Bay Area newsletter recognizing the invaluable contributions of all our volunteers. This quarter we would like to recognize the fantastic Communications Committee.

The People Behind the Words
By Diana Stepner, Director of Communications

Every newsletter, every article, every website update. None of it happens alone.

As Communications Director for ICF SF Bay Area, I work alongside two volunteers who bring this chapter's story to life month after month: Hubert Yee and Carlos Prieto Jr.

Hubert and Carlos aren't just editors. They're thought partners. They show up consistently, bring full attention to every piece of content, and make everything sharper and more resonant than it would be otherwise. They write original articles, refine submissions, and roll up their sleeves on website work, often juggling all of it in the same month.

What makes them exceptional isn't just their skill — it's their reliability and care. They treat every piece of content like it matters, because it does. That mindset is contagious.

Good communications builds community, and these two are a big reason our chapter's voice feels cohesive, warm, and worth reading.

I'm deeply grateful for them both. This chapter is better because they're part of it.
